Giotto Bizzarrini was one of Ferrari’s most talented young engineers, whose career included designing the all conquering and immortal Ferrari GTO of the early 1960s. However, following a disagreement with Ferrari he walked out and was recruited by Renzo Rivolta, who had just started to produce luxury GT cars and wanted a respected name to front the project.
Bizzarrini developed for Rivolta a dramatic new high performance competition car, one that could beat Ferrari and the AC Cobra. The A3/C was an extreme concept, creating a sensation with its swooping lines and aerodynamic forms.
This car, chassis B0226, is the Bizzarrini works entry for the Nurburgring 1000kms raced by Regis Fraissinet /Teodoro Zeccoli / Mario Cabral / where they had a DNF due to the tires touching the body. At the Reims race, it was again raced by Mario Cabral and at the Austrian GP Zeltweg in 1965, the car was raced by the famous Bob Bondurant at a 7th overall who was very good as a lots of sport prototypes was there. This race car features independent rear suspension and a quadruple Weber carburettor 400bhp Corvette engine.
The factory race car is the only one in the planet who can claim to have retain his original paint from 1965. All the chassis and components have been restored and the car is ready to be the ultimate running Iso Bizzarrini A3C
